Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. As a Sous Chef at Angus Steakhouse you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation are consistently maintained. You'll also assist with managing and mentoring the back-of-house team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and mentor the back-of-house team, providing training and ongoing support to develop their skills
- Supervise the kitchen team during service, delegating tasks effectively and maintaining high levels of performance and communication
- Assist with kitchen scheduling, onboarding, and performance management
- Take ownership of your section and support the overall kitchen operation, maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety at all times
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented in line with company recipes, specifications, and quality standards
- Monitor stock levels, minimise waste, assist with stock rotation and deliveries, and help control food costs
- Lead, coach, and mentor Commis Chefs and the wider back-of-house team, providing training and ongoing support to develop their skills
- Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day management of the kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient service across all sections
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
- Experience in managing and leading a kitchen team
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
